Official: Davy Klaassen is an Ajax player - FootBoom
Ajax have officially announced the signing of Davy Klaassen from Werder Bremen.
The 29-year-old midfielder returns to the Dutch club after four years in Germany.
Klaassen came through the Ajax youth academy and made his debut for the first team in 2011. He quickly became a regular in the side and helped Ajax win the Eredivisie title in 2014 and 2015.
In 2017, Klaassen joined Everton for a fee of £23.6 million. However, he failed to make an impact at Goodison Park and was loaned back to Werder Bremen in January 2018.
Klaassen impressed during his loan spell in Germany and Werder Bremen made his move permanent in the summer of 2018. He has been a key player for the German club ever since, making over 100 appearances and scoring 22 goals.
Now, Klaassen is back at Ajax and he will be hoping to help the club win more trophies. He is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions and he will be a valuable addition to Erik ten Hag's squad.
Here are some of the details of the deal:
- Ajax have paid a fee of €11 million for Klaassen.
- Klaassen has signed a four-year contract with Ajax.
- Klaassen will wear the number 6 shirt at Ajax.
Klaassen is a welcome addition to the Ajax squad and he will be hoping to play a key role in the club's success in the coming seasons.
